Here at the Slab, we’ve had a really busy October. Last weekend we went to Lichfield and had a great day at the Book Extravaganza event in the beautiful Guildhall. It’s a Grade II listed building, a lot of it 18th century, though a guildhall has been on that spot for over 600 years. There are old prison cells on the ground floor, and a fabulous oak-panelled main hall overlooked by a minstrels gallery.

I wish I could have spent a bit longer, as it has been a while since I visited. I’ve booked back in for next year though, so perhaps that’s something I can remedy in 2027.
Our last planned event of the year is Bristolcon this weekend. We will have a presence in the dealers’ room, and I will be on a couple of panels.

Next Wednesday 28th October, our BFS-Award nominated Hiding Under the Leaves author, L.J. McMenemy will be taking part in this event in London:

…and finally, if you are a writer of short stories, keep an eye on our Calls for Submissions pages in the next couple of weeks. New books for 2027 to be announced soon.
